As fall creeps in on us it has been all about apples at my house this week. I wanted to work on creating some new recipes so I took apples since they are now in season and made an apple spice cake with homemade caramel sauce mixed in to italian buttercream to top them off. They are so yummy! Of course why make cupcakes if you're not going to decorate them so I made mini cupcakes into little apples, topped regular sized cupcakes with fondant apples and more mini cupcakes were topped with little apple medallions. Perfect little treats to mark the beginning of the harvest season.
