About Me

My photo
Kemptville, Ontario, Canada
Cake has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. My Mom was a cake decorator when I was younger and I discovered a few years ago that I had inerited her talent for it as well. I have not been satisfied with my jobs for a while now so I thought why not do something I love. Helping people celebrate the big moments of their lives. I can do cakes for all occasions. Let me be a part of your next celebration. Official website is secondgenerationcakedesign.com

Picnic Themed Cake

I created this cake for our local schools cake walk fundraiser last summer. They were having an old fashioned picnic so I created a picnic scene on top a pretty cake surrounded with white daisies. It was a successful day and lots of fun for all the families who attended.

Lego Star Wars Birthday Cake

I loved how this cake turned out. I really am not a Star Wars fan but they make some really fun cakes!

Sofia the 1st Birthday Cake

I was a little nervous to sculpt Princess Sofia but she actually turned out not too bad. Surrounded by some of her friends she sits on top a pretty cake to make Hannah one very happy birthday girl.

Bugged Out Birthday Cupcakes

These were adorable cupcakes for a sweet little girls birthday. Orange being her favorite color determined the color of the flowers and they went perfect as the base of the cute little bugs.

Martial Arts Birthday Cake

This cake was for my honorary nephew. He has been taking martial arts and wanted a Ninja cake. I came up with this fun design. He loved it and all the boys fought over the ninja stars.

Burlap & Ruffles Wedding Cake

This is one of my favorite cakes I have ever done! I was so excited when I was asked to create this beauty! It was the perfect cake for the rustic feel of the Lodge at Strathmere. I love the Willow Tree topper as well.

Froggy Smash Cake with Cupcakes

These were just too adorable. They were created for a little girl who's nickname is "Toad" so they were very appropriate for her 1st birthday party. Since it was a kids party I was a little apprehensive to use toothpicks for the cattails as I usually do, so instead I used spaghetti noodles (uncooked of course). Still can't get over how cute these are!

Banana Smash Cake

This was the perfect smash cake for a little monkey! Not sure if the theme was because he is in fact a little monkey or he drives his parents bananas?! Probably a little of both!

Butterflies & Flowers Birthday Cake

I was asked to design a cake with pink flowers and purple butterflies. I wasn't sure exactly where to go with that until I started just punching out some flowers and butterflies and the cake started to design itself. It's a sweet cake for a sweet girl!

Rose Wedding Cake

I love the retro feel of this simple but beautiful wedding cake I did last spring. I kept the colors brighter as it was a spring wedding and not a fall one. I love making roses so this was a perfect cake for me.

Bridal Shower Cake

This was for a friends bridal shower. I decided to base the design on the invitation that was sent out for the shower. I had an idea of how it would look in my head but it wasn't coming together just as I had hoped. It turned out pretty still even though it was redesigned an hour before the party began as the original idea just wasn't working out.

Ballet Shoes Ice Cream Cake

This cake was for my cousin who loves to dance. She doesn't like cake so much though so I attempted an ice cream cake for her. This is not something I offer for sale yet but I love to try something new and my family is always willing to be my guinea pigs. Inside is two thin layers of vanilla sponge cake with homemade strawberry ice cream in between. I frosted it with cool whip because I knew it would take good and hold up well in the freezer. Topped it with a pair of ballet shoes to make it special for Chelsea!

Cookie Monster 1st Birthday Cake & Smash Cake

I have also been waiting my whole cake career to do a Cookie Monster cake as well. This is one of my favorite characters from my childhood and you can't help but smile when you see him. I kept opening the fridge to take a look every time I walked by because he was just so cute!To go with this perfect 1st birthday cake was a Cookie Monster smash cake. There was just too much cuteness with these cakes!

Bridal Shower Cake

For this cake I was asked for something pretty but simple, oh and purple! This is the design I came up with and I and the bride were very happy with it!

Spring Birthday Cake

It's been a while since I have been able to post anything so I am going back a long way here to try and catch up. With all the snow and cold right now though it's nice to look back and think spring. This cake was for a birthday celebration last May. Covered in daisies, butterflies and lady bugs it was the perfect cake for a spring birthday.

Princess Crown Cake

This is a very pink princess cake for Jayden's 5th birthday. Crown is made of fondant. This is based on a few other cake designs that were used as inspiration. I am very grateful for my letter punches as my piping skills are not very good.

Stella & Dot Cupcake Toppers

I was asked to create cupcake toppers for a Stella & Dot trunk show party. I went to their site and found a few pieces that I though I could recreate in fondant. I made 2 pairs of drop earrings, some silver bangles and one of my favorite necklaces. Placed them all on medallions of their signature turquoise color. I love how beautiful these turned out!

Princess Birthday Cake

I was asked to create a simple princess cake. Usually these cakes are anything but simple but I came up with this design and LOVE how beautiful it is. Although simple to make it is anything but simple visually!
