My Mom works for a organization called Christian Horizons and they asked me to create a cake for their "Celebration of Life" party. Their colors are dark blue and orange and I was allowed to go from their to design a fun cake for them. It might be simple but it's also fun and says all that needs to be said "Celebrate"!
Celebrating the sweeter side of life. Custom cakes, cupcakes & sweet treats for all occasions.

Little Fondant Witch Tutorial
I had fun making this cake and thought I would share how I made the little witches. They really were quite easy to do so you don't need much skill to do them.
Step 1
Take a small ball of black fondant and roll it into a cone shape by putting slightly more pressure on one end of the ball as you roll it back and forth on the table. pinch the bottom of the large end gently with your fingers to create the bottom of the skirt.Step 2
Roll out a small snake of black fondant and cut to appropriate length for arms and glue the the side. As you can see I have a toothpick stuck in each one so that when I stick it on the cake they will stay in place.Roll a piece of green fondant into a ball and glue into place on top of the dress for the head.
Roll a tiny bit of green fondant and glue on for the nose.
Step 3
To create the hair roll out a piece of purple fondant and cut into a strip. I tried to make the height about the length I wanted the hair to be but don't worry about being too accurate as you can trim it when you glue it on.Using the fan fondant tool (not sure of the actual name of the tool but you can see what I mean) drag it from the top to bottom to create lines. Don't press to hard or it will tear the fondant but do pull it all the way down so it looks like separate strands of hair.
Glue the hair around the head. This is where you can trim the hair piece to fit properly on the witch. Don't worry about the bald spot, the hat will cover these.
Step 4
Roll out a piece of black fondant approx 1/8 inch. Cut a small circle out of it. I used the end of one of my cupcake tips but you can use whatever size that would be appropriate for the size your witch is turning out. Glue the hat base to the top of the head. I had not glued my hair high enough on a couple of them and thankfully the glue was not dry yet so I was able to give her a hair lift and tuck it under the hat.Take a small ball of fondant and roll a cone shape out of it by again putting more pressure on one end as you roll it along the table.
Holding the pointy end of the cone gently press and rub on the table to make the bottom flat and smooth.
Glue the cone onto the base of the hat. I used edible markers to draw the mouth and eyes. And there you have it...little witches. These can be used on your Halloween cakes and are small enough to go on top of cupcakes as well.
Happy Halloween!
Planes & Trucks Birthday Cake
This cake was for a little boys second birthday. The base is the road and there are a few trucks driving around the cake and through the mountainous country side while a plane flies overhead with a "happy birthday" banner. So cute!

Logo Cupcake Toppers
I was asked by a friend to make cupcake toppers of the logos of all the different groups from her Church. The idea was that she was going to give cupcakes to the leader of each group as a thank you for all they do. I had them almost done but was really unhappy with how they were looking so I started all over again. Originally I was painting them but it was turning out really messy so I took my new groovy letter press and with some cutting and trimming of the letters I was able to do them in just fondant. They look a 100% better than the originals. Sometimes it is just so worth the extra effort of starting all over again.
Logo cupcake toppers are a great way to promote your group or business or to give as a thank you to your staff or customers. Let me make you logo edible!

Star Wars Birthday Cake
I made this cake for an 8th birthday. He loves Star Wars so I made the logo, light sabers and Yoda out of fondant to create this great cake for him. I love the new groovy letter press I got when I was in Toronto last month. It has come in handy a few times now.

Puppy Cupcakes & Toppers
These cupcakes were for a little girls birthday. She wanted puppies so I created these toppers to go on her vanilla cupcakes. I used a lot of circle, heart and tear drop cutters to create these adorable pups. Will have to do up a tutorial on these during my next down time.

Duck Dynasty Birthday Cake
I was asked by my cousin's wife to make a Duck Dynasty cake for his birthday. I designed this one and before I had even posted any photo's on my site I had another order for one the very next weekend. It had been a popular one as I have now done it 3 times, the third being for a thanksgiving celebration. I have another one coming up in November as well. I love this show and was very excited to do the cake and seems there are many more who feel the same way! I made the cattails out of toothpicks and modeling chocolate. The ducks are modeling chocolate and fondant heads. I'll have to do up a tutorial next time I model Phil as I came up with an easy way to create his beard. I don't know if I'll ever get tired of doing this cake.

Sporty 40th Birthday Cake
I designed this cake for a guy who loves golf, baseball, boating and beer. Really what guy doesn't but to put all these likes into one cake was a challenge. The bottom tier is decorated with baseball and bats. The second tier is a golf course with a golfer sitting holding a beer. The top of the cake is dots swirled to look like waves for his boat to sit upon. The boat is a drawing of his actual boat.

Graveyard Zombie Birthday Cake
I was asked to create a Zombie themed cake for a 14 year old's birthday party. Not the usual order I get for birthdays but it was fun to do something different than princesses and Disney. I made a couple zombies and body parts coming out of all the graves around this cake. Chocolate cookies crumbs make perfect dirt and don't hurt the taste at all!

Princess & Dragon 2nd Birthday Cupcakes
I made these for my niece Ryann. Her brother Greyson decided what this years cupcake theme would be. I'm not sure this is what he had in mind when he asked for princesses and dragons but they are just too cute. I got the idea from an invitation I had found online. I designed the dragon from it and then made crowns, wands and a some name and number badges to match. The cupcakes even matched...there was raspberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and vanilla cakes with raspberry buttercream. Lots of pink with purple and green make a very cute batch of cupcakes.

Cowboy Baby Shower Cake
This cake was for a cowboy themed baby shower. The cow print makes a fun backdrop for this adorable and fun cake. A bandanna thrown over the corner of the cake and a baby riding a bottle with a cowboy hat top it all off.

Sofia the 1st Birthday Cake
This is one of the cutest shows on Disney Junior so when I was asked to create a Sofia the 1st cake I was very excited. I have watched the show many times with my niece and love it. The birthday girl was very specific about how she wanted her cake. She wanted a cake with light pink icing, dark pink flower and it had to have both Sofia and Amber on it. I think I got all that in. Sofia and Amber are cut out of gumpaste and hand painted. The petal shaped cake made the perfect backdrop for this precious cake.

Baptism Cake
I designed this cake for a baptism. They wanted something simple but beautiful. Originally I had only 2 stacked circles between each cross but it looked like the crosses were flanked by snowman so I switched them around and did four instead. It looks much better. Look closely and you'll see that the cross has a circle pattern imprinted on it as well.

Classic Ivory Wedding Cake
This was the cake I made for my Aunt's wedding in August. The cake is a version of the silver and white one I did for the local bridal shop last year. This time though I did it in ivory with pearl beads instead of the silver for a softer look. It was really beautiful! The cupcakes were Chocolate Espresso, Coconut Cream Pie and Caramel Whiskey. It was a country wedding and everything was very beautiful. Congratulations Carol and Chris!

Deer Hunter Birthday Cake
This is the second time I have made this cake but I did have to make some changes this time. I did the deer out of fondant instead of modeling chocolate because for the life of me I could not make modeling chocolate that week. It made it a bit more challenging to do them but they turned out pretty good. I also changed the way I did the camo frosting. I piped some green spots then surrounded them by chocolate buttercream and then smoothed it all out. Made for a bit of extra frosting but turned out much better than last time.

Sesame Street Birthday Cake
I LOVE this cake! Logan's Mom asked me to make a cake for his birthday similar to the Mickey Mouse one I made for my niece but with Sesame Street characters instead. Elmo, Count and Prarie Dawn are his favorite characters so I cut them out of gumpaste and hand painted them to place on the cake. Along with the 123's and ABC's there are green, yellow and red dots to make the cake fun. Topped it off with streamers and Logan's name in stars. Did I say I love this cake?!

Monkey 1st Birthday Cake & Smash Cake
This is a fun and adorable 1st birthday cake. The cake is a sheet cake cut into the shape of a #1. The theme was monkeys so I added a monkey to both the cake and the matching smash cake. Banana bunches finish off this cute cake. I love this one!

Minnie Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Cake
What little girl wouldn't want a sweet Minnie Mouse cake but Lily also wanted the clubhouse as well. Turning the clubhouse into a pretty pink cake was so much fun. With flowers and birds surrounding the iconic shape of the clubhouse and topped with a pink Minnie Mouse bow this cake is adorable.

Prize Horse 1st Birthday Cake
This is not my original design but when I was asked to do it for Reese's 1st birthday I was thrilled as it is a gorgeous and fun to make cake. I made the horse to resemble her horse. The barn board is painted on a strip of distressed fondant. It is really a beautiful cake!
