About Me

Cake has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. My Mom was a cake decorator when I was younger and I discovered a few years ago that I had inerited her talent for it as well. I have not been satisfied with my jobs for a while now so I thought why not do something I love. Helping people celebrate the big moments of their lives. I can do cakes for all occasions. Let me be a part of your next celebration. Official website is secondgenerationcakedesign.com

Chinese Themed Gotcha Day Cake

A friend of mine asked me to make their family a cake to celebrate the day they brought home both their adopted children from China (different years but same day). They call this day their "Forever Family Day". Lukai was home when I brought the cake and his face just lit up. It was so fun to see such a huge reaction! Their families story is a wonderful and inspiring one and pray for many blessings as they embark on a huge Godly mission in the next year.

This is the link to the fabulous work of Couture Cakes by Angela whose cake I not quite copied but definitely used for inspiration for this cake.

Boy & Girl Monkey Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to do a cake for 2 separate Mom's, one having a boy and one having a girl. It stumped me for a while but then I came across a picture of 2 monkeys that inspired me to make this cake. It is a vanilla vake with chocolate Italian buttercream.

Delft Blue Birthday Cake

I love making these delft blue cakes. Being half dutch myself. I actually did 2 of these in 3 days for the same woman. She had 2 birthday parties...lucky her!

Girly Baby Shower Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made for a baby shower for a little girl. They are strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and coconut cupcakes with raspberry buttercream. The umbrella cupcakes are sprinkled with coarse sugar to look like rain drops.

Country Western Birthday Slab Cake

I made this cake for the Dundas Manor's October birthday celebration. They had just had their Halloween party so they decided to do a country western theme for the birthdays. The cake is a pumpkin spice cake with a vanilla buttercream. I had no idea where I was going with this design until I was done the cake. It almost had me stumped but came out rather nicely.

Jack O' Lantern 1st Birthday Cake

This was my version of a very cute cake that Tristan's Mom sent me to do for her son. I love the cross between Halloween spook with cute 1st birthday.

Maple Leafs Hockey Rink Cake

I made this cake for a little Maple Leafs fan. I was sent a pic of a very similar cake and this is how my version came out. I did have a hard time with the nets though. It seems you can't go out and buy hockey nets...soccer, football yes but not hockey so I had to figure out how to make them myself. My first attempt was more along the lines of a soccer net and I am so thankful that they got ruined by some green food coloring and I had to redo them. This is the final version and I am so happy with how they turned out. I am in the process of doing up a tutorial on how I did them as there isn't one that I could find.

Monkey Head Brain Cake

Every year I get an email from one of my favorite clients. His goal is to have a cake that completely grosses out his guests and they don't want to eat it. He sent me a link for this cake that luckily for me had a tutorial with it on exactly how to make the cake. http://www.instructables.com/id/Monkey-Brain-Cake/  He's actually pretty gross but knowing that he is full of chocolate cake and chocolate ganache I would still dive in!

Spooky Halloween Cupcakes

Spooky Halloween cupcakes I made for the Early Years Center's Halloween party. I was happy to be able to help make the kids party a sweet one!
