About Me

Cake has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. My Mom was a cake decorator when I was younger and I discovered a few years ago that I had inerited her talent for it as well. I have not been satisfied with my jobs for a while now so I thought why not do something I love. Helping people celebrate the big moments of their lives. I can do cakes for all occasions. Let me be a part of your next celebration. Official website is secondgenerationcakedesign.com

Picnic Themed Cake

I created this cake for our local schools cake walk fundraiser last summer. They were having an old fashioned picnic so I created a picnic scene on top a pretty cake surrounded with white daisies. It was a successful day and lots of fun for all the families who attended.

Valentine's Day Love Cakes

I had a design in my head for a heart tattoo cake that I wanted to offer for Valentine's this year. I was doing a show last week so used it as an opportunity to create this design in a dummy cake. As I was doing the "tattoo" I found another design that I thought would make an awesome cake. So on top of the love tattoo cake I created a rose tattoo cake as well. I also wanted to play around with some popular frosting techniques so I ended up designing two more cakes as well. Love is the perfect topper for a simply piped rose cake. I had fun playing around with these designs and new techniques.

Winter Thank You Cake

I was asked to make a cake for the student who has been doing her placement at my Mom's work. It was her last day with them so they wanted to do something special. I had found a card online that had the tree and bird on it with some snowflakes and it inspired me to create this cake. I have found that cards are an excellent place to find inspiration for cake designs. Really inspiration can come from anywhere!

Forever Family Day Cake

This cake was created for a very special celebration. Every year they celebrate the day that Lukai and Ping (separate years but same time) became a part of their family. They were both adopted from China. This cake depicts the pieces of this families puzzle and how they all came together. With God at the head of it all all the pieces fit together perfectly. It was a fun cake to make and a great conversation piece at their dinner as well.

Celebrate Life Cake

My Mom works for a organization called Christian Horizons and they asked me to create a cake for their "Celebration of Life" party. Their colors are dark blue and orange and I was allowed to go from their to design a fun cake for them. It might be simple but it's also fun and says all that needs to be said "Celebrate"!

Survivor Themed Cake

I made this cake for the final day of 4th Week Camp at my Church. I wanted to give the kids a sweet and fun treat at the end of their week of games and learning. Since this years theme was Survivor and the location was the Osgoode Swamp I created this cake. I hand painted the logo using edible paint. The alligator and snakes are made of fondant. The cattail leaves and boat are formed from gumpaste. I made the cattails by rolling little pieces of modeling chocolate and sticking them on the end of toothpicks. I used longer sucker sticks and wrapped them in modeling chocolate to make the torches and topped them with fondant flames. The Osgoode Swamp sign is also made of modeling chocolate and I used a fondant tool to score wood grain into it and white food coloring to age it. It was a fun cake to design and create and the kids loved it and devoured it as well. Can't wait to see what theme I get to work with next year!

School Spirit Thank You Cake

I had a client ask for a cake for the teachers of her sons school. This would be his last year there as they are moving out of the district. Iroquois Public School colors are gold ad purple and the lion is their mascot. I made him out of fondant and surrounded him with some circles to make it fun. They were all very happy with how it turned out.

Ottawa Senator's Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a cake for a fundraiser for a local school. Since it was the hockey playoffs I figured this would be a popular one to bring in lots of money for them. Unfortunately it wasn't picked up in time but was then used at another fundraiser that weekend. Never did hear how it went but I still love the cake. The Ottawa Senator's logo is handcrafted out of fondant.

Art Themed Cake

I made this cake for a local schools Cake Walk fundraiser. As long as I kept it kid friendly the whole design was up to me. I had a really hard time choosing what I was going to do as there are so many cakes I want to make but I finally made up my mind and went with an art theme. I had so much fun with all the color. With splatters of paint to pencil crayons, a paint can and paint pallet this cake was awesome. I hear they had a pretty successful night. I love that I can use my God given talent to give back to the community.

Candy Covered Cake

I was asked to make a cake for two kids who had recently suffered a loss. This friend of the family wanted to do something to bring some joy to their life. She had won a gift certificate I had donated to a silent auction and decided to use it for just that. I feel so privileged to help make someones day brighter. This whole thing isn't just about beautiful cakes...it's about making people happy and bringing joy to their lives!

You Feed Them Pig Roast Cake

I made this cake for You Feed Them's pig roast dinner and auction a few weeks ago. You Feed Them is an organization that is helping build self sustaining farms in Kenya, Africa. You can see more about this amazing organization at youfeedthem.com. The pig roast was put on at my Church and I donated this cake to the dinner. It was a neopolitan cake (chocolate and strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream). The bottom layer is a picnic table with buns, corn, and watermelon on it. The next layer up is to represent the You Feed Them organization. The next layer up is a bale of hay with a bandana and the top is a globe to represent what God is doing in the world through this organization. Oh and it's topped of with a chef pig.

Rural Farming Special Occasion Cake

The Osgoode Township Historical Society had a celebration for it's 40th anniversary last weekend and I was asked to make a cake for them. They wanted something that depicted rural farming and this is the cake I designed for them. I made a classic carrot cake with maple buttercream. It was a big hit. I am thankful that our township and family histories are being kept alive through this great organization.

Christian Horizon's Celebration Cake

These cakes were for Christian Horizon's open house to celebrate their new day program opening. My Mom is the manager of these new day programs and when they were discussing the celebration she mentioned to them that she knew a cake decorator. I was honored to be able to make these cakes for them. I am sure that the day program will be fantastic for the people that Christian Horizon supports. The decoration of the cakes was inspired by their logo.

Grand Opening Cake

I was asked to make this cake for the grand opening open house for Come by Chance Boarding Kennels in Winchester Ontario. This is an enlarged cake version of her logo. You can get more information on Kathy's new business by going to comebychanceboardingkennels.ca or check her out on facebook. Good luck Kathy and Family.

Feed the Fire

I was asked to make a cake for a GEMS workshop this weekend. I have a few cousins who belong to this group and two of my aunts are leaders. GEMS is an organization that brings girls together to learn more about God and what it means to truly live a christian life. The theme this year is feed the fire and their colors are pink. So I made a cake on fire with butterflies hovering above the pink flames. It was a fun cake for a group of fun girls.

Spring Cakes

I made these for various spring time events. Easter, fundraiser and mother's day.
